Soon after breakfast at the hotel, proceed towards an exciting sightseeing tour of Gangtok. Give a nice start to the trip with a visit to the Rumtek Monastery, one of the biggest monasteries in Sikkim. This four-storied building is believed to be established around 1740, and it exhibits the Tibetan architectural style.
Next, visit Do-Drul Chorten, which is considered to be one of the biggest stupas in the state. It features 108 prayer wheels (or Mani Lhakor) and was established by Trulshik Rinpoche - the Nyingma order's head of Tibetan Buddhism, in 1945. Also, gain fascinating insights into the rich heritage and culture of the Tibetans by exploring the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology (closed on Sundays). It is also known as the Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology and has a museum and library along with a reference centre.
Thereafter, visit the famed Government Institute of Cottage Industry (closed on Sundays), which was established with an aim to preserve as well as develop traditional crafts and arts of this region. It has an emporium that offers different items, including exquisite carpets, wooden masks, bags and handmade paper.
You will also visit the Flower Show Complex that serves as the venue for many flower exhibitions. This complex is famous for its orchid shows considered to be one of the most beautiful flower exhibitions in the country.
After this enriching experience, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
